HC4T helped Mrs. Wofford's 5th grade class purchase supplies for their student teacher. We were happy to be apart of helping her get her teaching career started.
We were able to help Mrs. Otto's classroom recover from Hurricane Harvey by helping purchase books for their guided reading groups.
As the thank you notes and emails continue to come in, I feel compelled to share them:
Dear Harvey Cat 4 Teachers,
Let me begin by thanking you again for your donation. My students were beyond thrilled to see the books arrive.
The 4th grade students in my classroom and a very wide range of reading levels but have learned to love where they are now while setting a goal for where they want to be. The books you donated brought a new encouragement and excitement for reading into our classroom. The students couldn't wait to finish one book so they could get to another.
Our school has a competition for each grade level and each class. The focus is on how many words a student has read (they have to take a test to prove they read the book). Since getting these new books our class has won the trophy several times (we had never won before). Students that refused to really read have begun asking for reading time. A new book might seem like a small thing but it can mean the world to a child.
Thank you so much for investing in our classroom and these students. They will forever remember the time someone else cared.
