We all know the toll Harvey has taken on the Gulf Coast communities. The destruction and flooding was, quite frankly, unimaginable. Homes that we didn’t expect to flood flooded. Our family was without any communication for many days so we were spared seeing the widespread destruction as it was happening. While being incommunicado was unnerving at worst, we didn’t see the reports of tragedy or heroism, love and support as they were unfolding.
The amount of get it done attitude we have seen in the last few weeks has been inspiring. Neighbors and strangers were showing up to get the job done. There has been so much love.
We learned how many schools and homes were flooded. The numbers of destroyed homes, schools and displaced family’s (and pets) are staggering. So far, we have seen communities pull together and love one another so much. Months ago we were at our worst but we are finding our way back.
